Darkness.

If you asked me how long I'd been there, I don't think I could have given you a straight answer. I'd...lost track of time.

How was I to count the days when the sun set for the final time, never rising again?

I locked myself up when the Darkness fell, stumbled into this room desperately looking for something solid to hold onto. I heard not a sound, nor any movement. Was I alone here? The silence felt louder than sound, my fear amplifying and distorting all of my senses.

It was all I could do to tell myself this expansive blackness would end soon...it would all end soon...

It didn't.

Time wore on, each second reassuring my fear that I would grow old and die here, never to experience color, light, or warmth again.
I soon grew numb to my surroundings, numb to my fears and emotions. I simply sat, slept, stared into the blackness. I had no hopes. I had...nothing.

But then...

Light.

It poured in through the glass panes of the door I hadn't opened since the Darkness fell. I could stare in awe for only a second before shielding my eyes, too adapted to the absence of light. My heart pounded, and as soon as my eyes were slightly adjusted I greedily took in the yellows and blues in the glass panes. The two colors had never been so beautiful. Adrenaline racing through my veins, I stepped toward the door, grabbed the handle, and turned.

I gasped as I stepped outside, using the door frame to support myself. My knees had gone weak. Green grass and trees covered the ground, facing the bright blue sky above, and everything was more vibrant than I had ever remembered. Tears fell from my eyes and landed on my time-worn shirt.

Just then, a thought drifted into my mind. Am I alone here? Did anyone else make it through the Darkness? I had to find out.
I walked down the path that led away from the ruddy shack I'd taken refuge in, not bothering to look back. My leg muscles were weak due to lack of use, so my pace was slower than it would normally have been. After a little while, I came to a gathering of large stones, possibly left over from a structure that had decayed while the world was black. In the center of their somewhat circular shape, I saw a figure.

"Red?" I touched her gently on the shoulder. "Little Red, it's Rexy! Wake up, the sun's returned!" I tried my best to hide the fear in my voice, there was a good chance she wouldn't stir. To my great relief, her eyelids fluttered and she turned her vivid green eyes on me. They widened instantly and she sprang at me with a surprising amount of energy.

"Rexxxxyyyyy!" She exclaimed, wrapping her arms around me. Her musical voice brought me warmth as I hugged her tightly. "Rexy, the Darkness is gone! I can see you! I can see...everything! Thank goodness, I thought it would never end! I'm terrified of the dark, even worse than I'm terrified of Ath-EEP!" She stopped mid-sentence and let go of me, looking over my shoulder with wide eyes. I turned to see what had startled her.

"REXY! LITTLE RED!!!" Lynx's voice rang out so loudly it echoed off the rocks. "Athalo and I came running, we thought we heard voices!"

"We're glad to see it was you two," Athalo added smoothly, his hand resting gently on Lynx's back. His gaze shifted from my face to Little Red's. "Hey Red, long time no see, eh?" he flashed her a cunning grin.

"Errrrrmmmmm, yeah...it's...uh...glad to see you're...uhm...it's...bright out here?" She cast her eyes down, biting her lip.

"Knock it off Athalos, it's not time for your silly little games," Lynx snapped, giving him a smack on the arm. She then ran down to Red and I and swept us up in a hug. "I'm so glad to see you two are alright! I've missed you so much."

"You have NO idea how much I can relate to that," I replied, grinning at her. Athalos had stayed where he was at the top of the hill, staring down at us.

"Are we gonna stand around, or are we gonna head into town and see if everyone else is alright? Move your tails, ladies."

Ugh. Man-Wolves.

We all took off in the direction of town, the faint haze of buildings on the horizon. We laughed and pointed things out to each other as we ran; just ordinary things. They all seemed special and important now. Heading towards town, I had a strong and knowing feeling that everything was going to be there. It all was going to be there.

Yep that's right gents and ma'ams, MY GAME IS BACK!!! And running better than ever. I am on a cloud of pure dino joy!!! Had you fooled at the beginning there, didn't I??? I certainly hope you all were entertained by my epic story. It's like...a metaphor or some junk. It's deep, or whatever.

So basically, I got my claws on a fancy copy of Windows 7 and toiled my way through the strenuous process of installing it on my Mac. Those hours of pain-in-the-buttedness were completely worth it! If you've never seen a spasm fueled by pure jolliness, you would have gotten the opportunity to witness one if you'd been in the same room as me when I booted up my Sims game. It runs quite wonderfully if I do say so mehself, and the only problem I'm having at the moment is some slight graphical issues (blurry sims and clothing even with the graphic settings on high. It looks a bit like a bag of rear ends if you zoom in really far). I'm working on a solution to this little fiasco, but I'm not going to complain.

I has mah simmies back!! EEEEEEEEEEE!!! ♥ ♥ ♥

  4. *cheers*

About the texture thing - sometimes that happens to me, where everything just loses massive amounts of quality when it shouldn't. Most of the time it will eventually go away, but I have to restart my game at times to get it to work. :)
