A Tribute

Those of you who have been a part of the TS3 modeling/editing scene for a while will undoubtedly be familiar with mjdhnl, better known as MJ. However, those of you who are a bit newer to the scene haven't gotten the opportunity to experience her wonderful creativity, skill, and eye for beauty. She was a dynamic and nearly unbeatable competitor and made some of the most beautiful pictures the modeling community has ever seen. Not to mention, she was super sweet and supportive of fellow editors.

Don't worry, she didn't die or anything! Unfortunately though, she sort of dropped off the face of the Sims world, and none of us have seen anything of her for quite some time. However, we still have her breathtaking photos to carry on her essence! I wanted to share some of them with you in this post, so those who knew her can reminisce and you newer simmies can see the beauty of her pictures and draw some new inspiration.

MJ was definitely ahead of her time as far as the evolution of the TS3 modeling community goes. Her attention to detail, skilled pose combining, and hair drawing were all strikingly new concepts during earlier times when TS3 modeling competitions were still young.

I miss you, MJ, and I know I'm not the only one! I hope, someday, you find your way back to the TS3 modeling community.

  1. That is simply beautiful! Too bad she wasn't still around. I'd love to learn a thing or two from her! Her attention to detail is amazing! You can see all the controlled talent, and effort in every shot.

  2. "Controlled talent" is definitely the way to describe it, Jillie! Before she disappeared, she was considering putting up some tutorials, and I'm so sad it didn't happen! There's something about what she does to her model's face...I just adore it.

  4. I came around right before she left I think :( Those have to be some of the best pictures I've ever seen. Does anybody remember Smash? I know I do. She was also an amazing editor who left. :(

  5. @Silvie: I completely agree. Look at all the detail she put into her photos. In the car one, if you look closely, there's stretch lines on the seat where her heel's pushing in. That's insane! :)

@Mystic: I definitely remember Smash, she was another very sweet and talented editor. I admired her because she knew her way around Adobe Illustrator. Using a vector-based program is incredibly different from using a pixel-based one like Photoshop, and she knew both.

  6. Thanks for bringing this pictures back to life Rexy. I remember a couple of them.

I wish talent like this would stick around forever! Even if I don't know how to edit like this, it'd still be amazing to see what MJ would be doing in the photo department.

But it's a good thing we still have you and Jillie around!

  7. I never saw MJ on the forums, but I've seen her pictures before. And Smash disappeared a little while after I started lurking the S&M section.

It makes me kind of sad, especially because you may never know what happened to them, unlike real life :(

  8. This is Magik, I'm posting from my phone.

Those are beautiful, you can' deny that, and I really do like them, I'm jealous she can do that :O

but I do have a slight issue, the've been edited A LOT! They don't look very 'Sim' anymore.

Please no-one get upset at me; I'm just expressing my opinions :/

  12. MJ was my first editing idol, seriously. I used to just STARE at her pictures and all I could do was shake my head...just HOW, HOW did she do it. And this was all before pose hacks and gobs of editing tutorials. I saved several of her shots and hadn't seen a couple of these...they're STILL breathtaking. Just timeless. I wanted to learn from her so much.

You could look at one of her photos and just KNOW it was an MJ Special lol. Right off the bat, no question. She has such a unique style; heavily edited but incredibly beautiful, and the attention to detail (i like that, 'controlled detail', totally) was off the charts. Just off the charts.

I hope wherever she is she's doing well and off to much bigger and better things! She'll always be one of my top sim-editing idols.

  13. I remember in my very early days of S&M seeing some of her pictures. I thought she was like a computer wizard (I had never opened photoshop at that point) I still think she's a wizard. Even today her photos are amazing. Her pictures are easily some of the best I've ever seen. She has such a subtle but unique style that made it easy to tell it was a MJ pic.
